Rénée found out about this. Possible great retreat idea! Here is the link to the Delvarva Wool & Fiber Expo.....they had over 50 vendors in 2018, and they offered some classes. The Expo is at the Convention Center. The Howard Johnson offers rooms for $69 a night with either a King or 2 Doubles and is 2 miles from the Convention Center. Call the Hotel directly at 888-465-3451 and mention that you are attending the Wool & Fiber Expo. I spoke with the person at this number....they confirmed we could call and make reservations now for next March. So grab a roommate and make a reservation! Should be fun! OktoberFest 10-20-18 at Rénée's house was a lovely gathering of HKG members and ladies from the Thursday Wegman's group.
As this party was in lieu of our regular meeting at the church, discussion was about the possibility of scheduling a field trip to Ashland's new yarn shop, Center of the Yarniverse for Nov. or later; when to reschedule field trip to Fredericksburg's Untangled Purls. The consensus was to plan a collaboration with Ashland Coffee and Tea, as the gathering place; have a presenter from Center of the Yarniverse tell us about brioche knitting; then have groups of 4-5 go browse at the shop while the rest of us sit, knit, and eat lunch. Tentatively scheduled for Nov. 15, the Sat. which would be our regular meeting date, the weekend before Thanksgiving. Also, remember, at our Nov. meeting we'll need to collect donations for the women's shelter so they can be distributed in Dec. Any donations for our First Responders or any other of our charities can also be turned in at the Nov. meeting. Think about starting soon knitting tiny red hats for newborns to be handed in at our Jan. 2019 meeting for distribution throughout Feb. Discussion turned to our Christmas Party. Corky has tentatively offered to host. More details about that later. December is the month we start collecting dues for the coming year, so come to the party prepared. Also, please, please, please come up with suggestions for our 2019 calendar of events. |
