2-20-16 Old Business:
Donnie told us about the advantages to be had with membership in the national Knitting Guild Association of which he is a member. The suggestion was made that individuals might enjoy getting their own membership. There is a reasonable yearly dues fee.
Plans are underway for our own retreat, to be held at our own home in the Ashcake Rescue Squad station, May 21, 2016. Like Gloucester's retreat it will be a most-of-the-day event: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Show and Tell:
Diane showed us the lovely, cinnabar colored, lace cowl she made with yarn and pattern from Knitting B.
Susan donated a collection of items for our charity work.
Suzanne made a lace shawl with beads, called Winter Bloom...amazing!
Renée made a "star shower" cowl in shades of dove grey, with beads on the edge. The yarn was from Paradigm Farms, in the Chincoteague Colors collection, called Oyster Bay.
Katia requested help knitting sox.
Elaine K. showed a pale pink baby blanket, one of her charity items.
Elke has been experimenting with variagated colors with alpaca yarn. She always comes up with something ingenious.
Mary is trying to figure out how to lengthen sleeves on a top-down garment. Her idea is to use 1/2 linen stitch changing colors every row. Wow!
Corky made a fashionable, metallic colored shawl from a Knitting Sisters pattern she got at the Gloucester Retreat.
Donnie showed us his latest Bohus creation, an angora, oatmeal colored sweater with green. The yoke had almost imperceptible changes in color as the eye moves from the neckline to the end of the yoke....a real stunner! He also shared the information that the Bohus line continues under a new designer: Penell Silverbery.
Suzanne T. showed us a cardigan made with ribbon yarn from Italy.
The Program: Kitchner Stitch Made Easy, offered by Donnie.
