Please email Gene & Andrée with what you plan to bring if you weren't at May meeting:
Andrée will provide paper products, plastic cutlery, drinks
Elaine K: veggie tray
Becky: pineapple casserole
Deb T.: cherry fluff
Mary: salad
Susan S.: salad
Show 'n Tell:
- Deb B. completed her cable cowl in lovely variegated shades of blue w/flecks of plum, and is now going "practical" trying socks.
- Deb T. finished her triangle scarf, ....skill level really kicking up a notch these days! :-)
- Mary showed us a whole collection of scarves, and shawls she has made, the most recent being an elegant, lacy pastel shawl in blue and
peach, called "Sugar Cane." She commented that it was one of those patterns that required close attention, so not for working on while
chatting! Each of the scallops on the edge ended with beads upping the sophistication level. Another shawl that met with raves was done
in peacock pattern with Blue Hero "Peacock" colors. One of their rayon metallic yarns.
- Susan S. is working on pretty, lacy sox with cables.
- Elke finished her crescent scarf in shades of gold, wheat, coral, and cocoa. Many remarked that those colors went so well together. ...note
for future color choices!
- Linda showed us a scarf with beads strung between sections, creating a fan effect at the two end edges. Great way to elevate the elegance
of a simple rectangular scarf. Requests were heard for a program on how to do this!
- Becky finished her Mosaic Mania scarf. It's quite wide at 20", in exquisite shades of royal blue, turquoise, and olive. See the design, by Ute
Nawratil on Ravelry: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mosaic-mania
- Maria showed us her latest project, a scarf called, Zick Zack from Ravelry, done in shades of grey with reds, blues, purple, and soft olive
green. It was done in sock weight and has a herringbone type of pattern. Sorry I couldn't find it on Ravelry. Must ask Maria for correct
name so I can post link here.
-Gene is working on a 4-row repeat scarf pattern. It will be a long rectangle done with a cake of yarn creating stripes in cream, peach, and
cocoa.
Program:
Elaine provided a hand-out, then demonstrated step-by-step the Eygptian/Chinese cast-on. Also provided were samples to show the finished product. For anyone who missed this meeting, hand-outs are available at our July meeting.
Then we played around with the different scarves members brought and determined optional ways to wear them. Scarf pins were a highly recommended accessory to enhance each scarf, as well as, expand the options for wear. Thanks to Elke for requesting with program.
