Jan. 16th
Old Business:
A smaller crowd than usual was present, but the laughter in the room would never have proven that. Gene lead the meeting as, newly elected President, Donnie, was away. By the 'Ayes', Gene was elected Vice President.
Lost & Found: Someone left a beautifully hand knit, variagated scarf at Andrée's house, the day of the Christmas party. Contact her if you're the owner, otherwise, Andrée will be most happy to give it a new home. See Andrée model the wayward scarf in our Photo Gallery.
We were reminded of the Gloucester Retreat coming up Jan. 30th.....$5 entry and a covered dish. For those needing to use GPS, the address is 8687 Roaring Springs Rd., Gloucester. After making the turn by the old cabin on the main road, it seems like you're wandering through empty fields for a long time to get to the Recreation Center, 'tis true, but you'll arrive at a delightful spot alongside a pond. If you think you might be at the wrong place because the rustic-designed building looks small, fear not. You have arrived at the right place. The building is nicely roomy inside. Vendors, food, and fun await within. :-)
New Business:
Discussion on upcoming programs was lead by Andrée. Some of the proposed ideas still need a little fine-tuning, but our rundown is listed on our "Coming in 2016" page. We're counting on Steve to help with the technological aspects of the April "Exploring Ravelry" program. Gene will make contact with the Rescue Squad about a date for our "all day retreat" in May. Until that is reserved, our plans are tentative. Anyone wishing to be involved in the planning and execution of that event, please plan to stay after 12:00pm, the day of our Feb. meeting.
Show and Tell:
- Andre and Gail both have worked on beautiful ombré shawls, "The Moon Shawl." In different colors. Lovely both!
- Gail also modeled a hot pink, Chanel styled jacket that would have had Jackie Onassis 'ooh ing and ahh ing.'
- Suzanne T demonstrated her creativity by making a Bobby LeBonté, Nascar colored scarf, for a 2016 graduate. She has also been busy
knitting up Christmas wreaths, which she showed us on her tablet.
- Louise modeled a very smart-looking, cream color jacket. Sounds like we could have the makings of a fashion show with this group!
- Elke finished her first knit project: a very well knit carmel scarf.
- Elaine B. was almost finished a Monoshone Creek scarf, with cables, in orchid with sequines sprinkled thoughout.
- Gene and Becky have continued playing in the self-striping yarn bin. By the looks of it, they have been very productive in there... Gene with his
sox and Becky with baby blankets to donate.

Andrée's Program : Recycling plastic grocery bags into a "market tote."
See our Photo Gallery for more pictures of our fun.
Andrée's bag, on the left, used a variety of colored bags, cut into loops, then knit with mid range needles, 7 or 8. Elaine B. used size 13 and was satisfied with the results.
Prepare your collection of bags as follows:
1. cut off all the handles and bottoms, so that the bag is one open cylinder
2. cut each cylinder horizontally into 1" -1.5" circular loops
3. draw one loop through the loop of another to make a linked pair, slip knot style
4. continue connecting loops into a continuous chain...this becomes your "yarn."
Directions for a variety of different designs can be found by googling Recycling plastic grocery bags into a "market tote."
